So, how does this work? ~ Sign-ups are at Dreamwidth. You don't have to have an account there to sign up. Use your LJ OpenID or comment as anonymous. ~ Assignments will be sent out via e-mail. Stories will be due 12 July. If you finish early, you can post to this comm and/or the DW comm and/or the yet-to-be-created AO3 subcollection and we'll leave your story in the moderation queue until the day the ficathon opens. ~ Keep your assignment secret until the deadline. We do suggest you get a beta, though. ~ Stories must be at least 1000 words, but there is no upper limit. ~ Feel free to post your whole fic in the comm, or post it somewhere else and post a link to it in the comm. (If you post it somewhere else, please keep it locked until the due date. The easiest thing is to post here, at the DWth comm, and/or at the AO3 subcollection, and let us worry about the reveal. :-D) More details about posting will be up closer to the deadline. ~ You should join the comm if you are planning on posting your fic here. All members have immediate posting access; posting is moderated so that the fic will all go live the same day. ~ If you post or cross-post at AO3, we will create a subcollection for this year's fic. (Check back for the link.) If you post only at AO3, as long as you add your fic to the collection there's no need to post an announcement at the LJ or DW community. But you will still need to sign up at Dreamwidth.
This year, we are again extending the fun with an After Party for complementary fanworks, to allow people who create fanworks other than fanfic to participate! All fanfic writers who sign up for the ficathon are asked whether they give permission for other artists to create related fanworks, after the stories have posted. (This year all writers have given permission.) Fan artists of all types are encouraged and urged to create and post complementary works during the After Party.
